i don't think there are many college basketball fans on here, but what the hey. indiana's out so that sucks. thankfully, i found a new team to root for with butler. GO BUTLER, YEAH!

my two teams were Florida and Purdue, and I kind of was going for Oregon. They're all gone. I'm a Hoosier and I was looking forward to seeing Coverdale and Indiana win, but, ya know, lost. So I guess I'm just going to have to pull for Kentucky. I admit I like watching them play.

my brackets have been slightly off, but most of mu relevant picks are still alive. i had marquette beating indiana in sweet 16, but i guess it doesn't matter who they lose to. fuck florida for getting out too soon. in one of the two brackets i filled out, i had them going to the final four. now i have to hope that maryland will overachieve their way to Nyawlins. while i'm at it, let me say damn louisville as well. that bastard patino couldn't get past butler.

by the way, i want duke to win. forwhatever reason, as a child i chose the teams that would always make it to the championship and lose. granted, duke wins from time to time, but i'm probably the only buffalo bills fan here...if there are any football fans here.

mine are pretty good so far. i had louisville going to the final four, but that's my only major error. i have texas vs kentucky in the final game with texas winning. besides butler(WHOO), i wouldn't mind seeing kansas or marquette win. i found out that smee's pop went to marquette, so that's reason enough. florida and duke seem so pretty boy and snobby.

Fuck Dook, and fuck Coack K. Rich, snobby bastards. I'm a North Carolina fan. We're still a year away, unfortunately, but I think with the teams they beat, and the injuries they had, they should have made the tournament, but at least they look like they could win the NIT. I hope Butler can win out, that would make me happy, just because I care so little for all the teams remaining.

I'm rooting for Kentucky now, too. I'm a Vanderbilt fan, and some would say that after what they did to us this year, I'm a traitor for rooting for them. But you know, like foldsfan, I just love watching them play. They win with defense, which I'm always a big fan of. They've got no superstars, so they play as a team. Plus, they're from the SEC.

Completely aside from the fact that I'm rooting for them, I think that they will go all the way and win the tournament.

i think i like knowing that they have to take real classes, even though they're basketball players.

Another in the SEC is Auburn. I'm pulling a little bit for them because they beat my guys in the SEC tourney, probably sealing their NIT fate. At least if they go far, you feel a little better about losing.

I really like this Butler talk, exliontamer. I grew up in Indianapolis and you know I'm all about Butler winning this thing. I love March Madness!!

March is the only time i ever get really really excited about sports.....March Madness is a wonderful time full of heartbreaking losses and grueling competition.......Kentucky will probably go very far.....The Butler vs Lousiville game was very intense....damon and i were watching it while riding bikes in the rec. center......i think everyone got a little freaked out by our screams of "holy shit" and " fuckin' hell" as the game reached it's climax.....

baltimore(my cat) got a little freaked out at my antics. i'd rise from the couch, clap my hands, exclaim, run around, etc. smee missed the most intense part of the game. i got one of these weird mcdonald's cravings that pop up about every month. she was kind enough to go pick it up.

My hopes were crushed when my 2nd place pick Florida lost. For the record, I had no idea what I was doing when I filled out my bracket.

during last year's championship game between indiana and maryland, damon got heckled by an old man at chilli's because he was screaming at the tv. he told the old man to "go fuck himself".....

no one does, but it's fun to pretend like you do when your picks are somewhat accurate. the tournament always renews my interest in wanting to play basketball. last year i even bought shorts for my athletic misadventures at the goodwill. they have an eagle that seems to be carrying a basketball while in flight....but if you look closely, it's talons aren't connected. i bet people laughed at me because of my striped tube socks, dirty sneakers, screamin' eagle shorts, and random t-shirts.

Holy crap, do they still sell those things!?! I've looked at Target and WalMart, but to no avail. I want to get some for the pick-up game I play Tuesday and Thursday mornings. I already have a bright orange sweatband I wear when my hair is long enough. When you suck as bad as I do, it's good to at least provide some comic relief for the other guys.

sadly, i look at season stats and strength of schedule when making my picks...but i'm a sports geek of sorts. i subscribed to espn insider during college football recruiting season.

i bought a pack of them at journey's about two years ago. they were very cheap. half of them have tears in them from my yeti feet.....i guess that adds to the charm. i need some cool mid or hi tops. new shoes are so ugly and the retro shoes are too expensive. we should start a messageboard basketball league......that will never happen. i've tried to organise baseball games, but everyone's busy and they don't own mitts. i don't have one either.

And Carl has just posted my feelings about sports. If anyone ever plays pool with me, they will feel like the king of the game. I also suck regularly at bowling and four square, as well as all video games and, on the rare occasion that it is played, basketball.

I always wanted to organize some sort of softball game for my friends because the total non-athleticism would be hilarious to watch.

I am sooooo game for some sandlot baseball. I'm now officially "that weird guy" to the neighborhood punks cuz I asked if I could play ball with them...

Beter yet, how about a wiffle ball tourney? I remember a story back when I was in HS about these brothers that converted their parents backyard into a Fenway Park wiffle ball stadium. I wanted that place so bad. Only now do I realize that being in your 30's and living at home with your brother still playing wiffle ball was rather nerdy.... But I digress... Can you still buy the official wiffle balls? With the holes on one side.

I remember one christmas my brothers and I got a case of wiffle balls as a present. We spent the whole summer (1986) playing out all 162 games of the NY Mets schedule in our driveway. As the balls would crack and get scratched up we would ceremoniously unbox a new ball and toss it out to the pitcher. That's what I did at age 14...

I also suck at all team sports - always picked last in p.e. and such. I joined my school softball team in the 8th grade and never got to play. As soon as the season was over, my mom encouraged me to give up sports and take violin lessons. When I didn't turn into Itzak Pearlman overnight, she suggested I quit that too and just focus on playing piano - apparently the one thing in life that I could do well. Sometimes I resented how my parents always pushed me away from things so quickly, but they probably had the right idea. Plus, I'm sure they didn't want to spend all their time going to watch me sit on the bench at games.

At UT the architecture school has a yearly kickball tournament, it's great.

I am only good at one sport, and that is tennis. My freakishly long arms and legs came in real handy while playing rich bitches.

I pretty much suck at everything else, but I am very competitive and willing to play almost anything. I would still be up for that softball game, Digsy.

I've always thought some adult-sized tether-ball would be fun too.

Ben Matlock and I won our college IM Kickball tournament our Sophmore (?)year. The "tournament" drew two teams-- both from the same dorm-- and consisted of a best-of-3 match-up. Having the tournament the afternoon after the biggest party of the year (Bike Race Weekend) probably wasn't the best idea. Luckily, we were all big sober losers. I still have my championship shirt.

I picked the Bills each of the years that they went to the Super Bowl and lost...However, I was redeemed when baseball rolled around. I correctly predicted that the Braves would lose in the playoffs from 1991-1993 (woulda done it in '94 too, if not for the strike. It's a shame the Expos got robbed that year). I was always an A's fan anyway. Canseco! I quit watching baseball for a time in '95 to focus on comic books, since I hated MLB for the strike. And, what happens? Dirty fuckers in Atlanta win the Series! Guess that's what they got for playin those soft bitches from Cleveland. I returned to baseball in '96 just to see the Braves choke again, and again (for the next few years)...until I finally grew a soft spot for them a couple of years ago. I loved to hate them. But now, my hatred for other teams takes precedent...Diamondbacks, those bastard expansionists. Maybe St. Louis and Oakland can stop their wicked choke streak soon.

I'm not sure where he picked this up, nor if he still has his touch... but in middle school, he was the shit! And for some reason, never played for the school.

His dad and mine played high school basketball together in Hartsville back in the 60's. His girlfriend is my cousin, whose mother went to high school with my mother in Hartsville. Yet, we all met in Gallatin without this knowledge...

this is embarrassing, but

after making cheerleading my first year of jr. high, i was on the basketball team. and not to boast, but i was first string up until my sophomore year of highschool when i decided that i enjoyed video taping the games instead of sweating. seeing some of the seniors' toenails fall off from playing hardcore was pretty disturbing, too. anyway, basketball was a great outlet for my (pre)teenage angst. i loved being able to talk shit and elbow some butch in the stomach without getting grounded by my parents or suspended from school.

i'm all for a messageboard basketball league. and kickball, too.

I can be a very streaky shooter. It doesn't help that I literally can't see straight. My one strong point is on the boards. Especially the offensive glass. I'm like Charles Barkley, except not as tall, or black. Other than that though, I'm just like The Round Mound of Rebound.

Man, I was so hoping that this story was going to go in another direction involving video cameras, locker rooms and showers...

I vote for Saturdays or Sundays. We could have a game of each, Basketball and Kickball, each time that we meet or alternate between meetings. This has the makings of an excellent adventure in athletics. The only problem is that softball and/or wiffleball should not be excluded. Meetings could take place in Murfreesboro or Nashville, whichever is most convenient for the majority. I am all for these proposed Messageboard Olympics. Anyone opposed should be flogged by a wiffleball bat.

I, too, am up for messageboard basketball. I also just played broomball for the first time at the sportsplex and it was a lot more fun than it sounds. Teddy and I (plus a few more) are starting to play some late night tennis at the Hendersonville courts if anyone wants to join.

As I said before, I enjoy tennis greatly. I would love to play again. Too bad your game is not closer to my neck of the woods

Did they play for Trousdale County High? We used to play them in b-ball. Hartsville is scary. My uncle helped build that nuclear cooling tower-and-a-half that make it so scary. I used to play golf and go to the drive-in in Hartsville. I also used to go to the drive-in in Gallatin. I want to go the drive-in again.

The putt-putt at Drake's Creek in Hendersonville ruled me (© StephanieW) when I was in my k-5 years. It would be cool to go back there one day...one time I lost my Roadblock GIJoe on the hill where the concession stand is perched and I had to search high and low to find him again. The camouflage Roadblock was wearing helping him hide very well...

I imagine Roadblock saw a group of kids poking a rabid wolverine nearby and had to go tell them of the dangers of taunting sick mammals. I'm glad he came back.

Yep, good ole TCHS. They graduated in '70. And, Hartsville is not, in my opinion, scary. It's countryside is quite lovely and peaceful, save the areas with mobile homes. It's quaintness is very cool.

Then, my friend, Franklin, Kentucky is the city for you! Just on the outskirts of Portland sits the only drive-in theatre that I know to be in the area. It is about 30 minutes or so from Gallatin. And, those Kentuckians have lottery too!

On another note, the recently released DVD set containing the first 10 episodes (a.k.a the first 2 mini-series) of GIJoe is very cool. I just wish they would release the mini-series that took place after the movie which featured Slaughter's Marauders and the Tiger Force. I haven't seen that in a decade.

Man, I was all-about the G-town drive in until they closed it while i was in middle school. I remember seeing such great movies as "Batman", "Batman Returns" and a showing of "Gone With The Wind" plus countless others that I cannot remember. And on another note (somewhat closer to the original topic of this thread), Gallatin is blessed with wicked talent at basketball, that's why if this MB league should come about the G'town crew shall unite and lay the smack down on all others

Ah yes, I too was at one of the "Batman Returns" showings. That was my first drive-in experience, which is kind of lame considering that I've lived a mile from it for the past 15 years.

On a separate note, we will lay the smack-down in basketball. "Go get The Rob a sandwich, jabronis."
