TOPIC: What *songs* are you listening to?
Posted  Wednesday, November 12, 2003 at 1:15 AM
Post 1 of 54
We're always asking what bands and albums are occupying people's ears, but I'm curious... what songs are people rather taken with at the moment?

Five of mine:

"We Looked Like Giants" - Death Cab for Cutie
"Pressed in a Book" - The Shins
"Fog (again)" - Radiohead
"Agony" - Eels
"The Rooster" - Outkast

I do like some ska, mostly live though. But I'm a brass player, and like all sorts of music, not sucked into just one genre.

PS smashmouth is not ska and not good sorry Superflks.

Last year when I was in LA with the band this message board is about we stopped over at one Mr. Mahaffey's place where he was busy recording Smashmouth... all things come back to the Features. Don't know if that is relavent or not, but a fun little side note. I have no idea if that stuff ever saw the light of day.

I'm still just bitter because

a.) as a Self fan, it would have been great exposure for the band and

b.) as a filmmaker/spectator I thought "Stay Home," about being a shut in, was a much better fit for the character of Shrek at the beginning than was "All-Star," about being confident in yourself. I don't see any possible "ironic" reading of All-Star either. That they still use All-Star in the Shrek 2 trailer is even worse.
