"Hey, Lou" is a song performed by The Features. It was written by Sam Baker and in considered an unofficial anthem for Spongebath Records.[1]

Although the song was played by all the major bands on Spongebath Records, including Self, Fluid Ounces, and the Katies, the Features' version is considered definitive. One reason for this is that the Features included it on their first official release, The Features EP, which is the only official release of the song.

Their version of the song was considered the best because of the high energy with which they performed the song live, with Matt Pelham's impassioned screaming of the lyrics, Parrish Yaw's use of the theremin, and the Features' version's trademark drum beat that was supposedly created by Don Sergio, although Jason Taylor was the band's drummer at the time.

Lyrics

These lyrics were transcribed by message board member Wiyum.[2]

Redundancy repeats itself
Exponentially
Nobody wants to hear you say it
over and over and over and over and over and
over and over and over and over and over and
over and over and over and over and over and
over and over and over and over and over and
over and over and over and over and over and
over and over and over and over and over and
over and over and over and over and over and
over and over and over and over and over and
Massachusetts

You think it's as simple as that, well
Some things are
But not this little, golden rover
Take it on the chin
POW!

POW!

POW!

POW!

POW!

My pain was euphoric
I couldn't help it
The adrenaline made it near impossible
To think, speak, wish, die
come on [help me]
