In the spirit of "Where Are They Now?" I somehow just remembered a few bands that I saw a LOOOONG time ago (some at Ground Zero/Rocketown in Franklin, if anyone remembers that. The bands that I want to know if anyone knows what happened to:

Caesar's Glass Box
Gumption

and then some bands that I knew members of and actually just want to see if anyone here remembers them:

Those Guys in your Tub
Chasing Midnight

So, who knows these bands?

I remember all of those bands except Those Guys in Your Tub. Who were they?

Rocketown - the first show that I ever played was there with a band called Whatever.

Caesar's Glass Box - Some of them re-formed as another band, but for the life of me, I can't remember what the name of it was. I know that one of the guys went on to be a lead guitarist in Silent Friction.

Gumption - I have no idea.

Chasing Midnight - LAST I HEARD (about 1 year ago, from Mr. Black himself) they were still together, but I know Rory's not involved any more. They were somehow involved in a WRVU radio show with us (Sneaky Eaters), Lifeboy and the Features in 1999.
Relevant: Prince, PT Anderson, Punk, Post-Punk, Purple, Party of Five, Peter Swanson, Peter Gabriel-led Genesis, "Peter Panic", Paul's Boutique, Potential Energy, Every Features MB member but me.

Aireline is the name of that band. 2 Parts Caesar's, 2 Parts Harmonium.

those guys were morons. they ruined a perfectly good train-wreck of a radio show. i think pelham stole some can cds that afternoon.
You know you have problems, with both money and alcohol, when you find yourself shoving beers down your pants outside a Features show.

I was a big fan of Crop Circle Hoax. I still have Tour of the NATO Countries. I also remember Habbit and Claire, but not those others.

Now that I'm thinking about it, I think that the Silent Friction lead guitarist came from Habbit, and not Caesar's Glass Box.

JC, I also was a big fan of Crop Circle Hoax and probably have "A Tour of the Nato Countries" around somewhere. Christine and I used to go see them at Lucy's in Middle School and I think we even saw them play with Spoon one time.

William said he ran into one of the guys from CCH a while back and mentioned that I had gone to their shows back in the day and said the guy couldn't believe someone had heard of them. That makes me sad because they were probably the first band whose shows I tried to see consistently.

Two members of Native are now part of Mile 8. Their music was just the coolest at Franklin High in the mid 90's. I know a couple of those guys are married with kids now, if that affects them, I do not know.

The drummer from Crop Circle Hoax was my boss at Mercury Records. Probably the same guy William ran into. I still have a copy of Tour of the Nato Countries as well.
I TOTALLY AGREE!

I remember all of those bands except Those Guys in Your Tub. Who were they?
TGIYT was a band which was comprised of:

Brad Sweitzer on vocals and writing the lyrics
David Larsen on Trumpet and arranging the songs
Stefan Pinson on Trombone
Patrick Riddle on Keyboards
Michael Brown on Bass
Rory Fraser (of Chasing Midnight) on Drums and Mandolin

I've left someone out, I know.

Their songs were very cool. Despite the horns, they were not a ska band in the least. You can still download some stuff on mp3.com . I love their stuff.

Rory was the guy I knew in Chasing Midnight, so that explains why I thought they were gone. Anyone know if they did anything after the "4 new ones" EP? "I'm Waiting" was such a great song...

Habit was great, I do remember them.

Patrick Riddle is one of the best keyboard players that I have ever seen/heard. He's now in a band called The Early Evening, and I think they're pretty cool.

Definitely worth checking out. The first five songs are amazing, then they kind of start running together... although they keep getting better and better every show I see. I think they have one coming up soon at Blue Sky Court.

Actually .....

My brother was in Chasing Midnight ..... Casey moved to LA ... Rory's at Sewanee.... Chris is in BFE Alabama..... Sean's going to Vandy ... and Brandon is around the area..... the band is and has been broken up for a while. Jason (my brother) is all over the place and playing with a number of bands, not sure for good or what have you though.

As for old bands ..... one of the best Nashville acts I had the pleasure of seeing for a long time was Clockhammer. Brilliant band .... Ken Coomer went on to play drums for Buzzkill (awful) and then the wonderful Uncle Tupelo and Wilco ....It was also cool to see Lambchop grow. Anyway ... cheers.....

I respectfully have to disagree. Spike & Mallets are like Tom Waits meets Jon Spencer, but with none of the redeeming qualities of either of those artists. Painful to sit through.

They have a new CD??? When did it come out? I thought they broke up in February when Seth moved to LA and Trev Wooten moved back to South Carolina. I saw them several times because they often played with Fluid Ounces, but I never thought they were that great. I only liked the stuff that Seth wrote (i.e. "1,000 Ships," the first half of "Life of the Party," etc.).

Anyone remember the Rories? They were a Spongebath band for a while headed by David Palmer with Dave Henderson on guitar and drums from Greg Harmon. They were really good guys and I just saw Greg a few month's ago down in Atlanta. David P. still lives in M'boro as far as I know.

Yes, Holey, but the band name was spelled the Roaries. Will Witherow played bass.
